Of Birthday, Merdeka & shopping list

31st August 2007..

Malaysia's 50th Independence Day..

Now that I have seen what God has done in my life and in the lives of those that are around me and occasionally strangers who would be friends..The fact that I am here, doing what I'm doing, alive and kicking; utterly grateful for my friends, my family, my ministry, my city, my work..I wouldn't ask for anything different (just so you know, yes - life's still tough but I've got all what i need in Him).

Today, I'm exactly where I'm suppose to be til He tells me otherwise.

I thank God for the freedom that this country experiences and I believe with all of my heart, its God-given.

For the reason/s that He saw it fit and purposeful for me to be born at this place and time, I'm proud to be a Malaysian, I'm proud to be a Sarawakian, I'm proud to be a Mirian.

Happy 50th Birthday, Malaysia! You are well-loved..

btw...its also Kenaina's 17th Birthday! WeeHuu!

For this reason, Joy (God bless her heart) with the help of an elaborate and complex supportive network of people - planned out an afternoon of an unforgettable 'girls-day-out'.

The following depicts the 'trials' we braved for the not-so-perfect-but-a-whole-lot-of-fun adventure.

First rule...Thou shalt not forget thy shopping list. Oh! Imagine what mess or perils we would go through without one...tsk..tsk...tsk..

anyways, so the adventure starts out well.

And guess who we met?

The Brothers Anthony (Joshua and Jonathan that is), who were so sweet to sing our birthday girl a stomach-belching Happy Birthday song..In the busy mall walk-way..aish!

And just to show that Miri is indeed small, we bumped into Rachel. Found out we had the same type of Sarawakian woody (as kenaina calls it) bracelet, without thinking, we raise our hands..a moment caught in pic.
*FYI: Rachel's leaving for Manchester on Sunday. Wishing her a safe flight & keep that camera handy, girl!

A big shout out of thanks to Joy-the fashion guru & official adventure photographer.

Then after buying 2/5 of the items listed on the shopping list. We decided to head to Park City. Yes..yes..we fell short but it was all-fun!

The adventure continues...at another level..

What are we doing at ParkCity?
CHC church camp. Snapshots of the youth section of the camp.

Had an awesome time here because we were just coming before Him to offer our best of worship. And He met with us.
Next question, what now, Lord?
What do You want us to do?

CONCLUSION:
The freedom and liberty we have today..the freedom to express our thoughts, speak our minds, live the way we see best, the right to enjoy our family and friends, the freedom of believing, the freedom of just being and living - it is all GOD-GIVEN!

A part of me is now asking this question, this freedom which we have so readily cherished and grow in..to what purpose was it designed?

Remembering the laughter, the jokes and the pure pleasure we have had the priviledge to experience, there must be a reason why God gave us what we have!

Can it be that this joy of living that flows from Him was given that we may fulfill His heart's desire and His will with this one and only life we have.

Maybe, just maybe..He gave us what we have so we could do what He wants us to do for the hurting world out there, starting with those around us. Our everday mundane people. Those that are in dire need to hear the gospel. Those that are in dire need of salvation.

Afterall the Bible calls us the light and salt of the earth.

As for light, no one lights a lamp and cover its light. Its meant to shine. As for salt, its suppose to give taste to a if not tasteless meal & salt's also use to perserve food. To postpone the process of rotting.

Dare we take this call? Of the abandonment of our own self-fulfilling purpose of being and to be His hands and feet and heart and mind and voice. Wherever we are..today..now..

Those whose heart burns with His, there is no other way!
